Abstract

Objective: To propose a nasal wash procedure and to evaluate the efficacy of care for patients with chronic sinusitis with Nasal Rinse kit.

Subjects and methods: Describe the clinical cases of 72 patients with chronic sinusitis treated at the Department of ENT in Thaibinh General Hospital from January 2014 to September 2014.

Results: Symptoms were improved of after 3-5 days of treatment. The most noticeable improvement was itchy nose, sneezing while the symptoms of runny nose and stiff nose improved little. The assessment of nasal cavity before and after nasal irrigation showed that the level of pus was improved significantly with 79.2% of patients no longer had pus. No patients had pus left on the nasal floor. The prevalence of patients with high-runny pus before treatment was 76.4% but after 5 days of treatment this prevalence decreased to 86.3%.

Conclusion: Nasal wash with Nasal Rinse kit provides superior therapeutic efficacy, save treatment cost and time in hospitals, this could be applied in treatment units as well as in prevention of nasal cavity diseases in the community.
