Abstract
Objective: To examine knowledge and self – care practice among type 2 diabetes patients at Xay Dung Hospital during the COVID – 19 pandemic.
Method: A descriptive study was performed and 300 patients with type 2 diabetes who met the inclusion criteria were involved using a pre-prepared questionnaire.
Results: The proportion of patients who did not have good knowledge of self-care accounted for 41.3%, with the average score of the contents of self-care reaching 20.25 ± 3.49 out of a total score of 30, in which the subject The weak point is the lack of knowledge about blood sugar control. Only 56.3% of patients practiced good self-care with an average score of 14.28 ± 2.71 out of a total score of 21. Compliance with dietary practice, self-control of blood sugar, exercise regimen practice is very low.
Conclusion: Exploring knowledge and self – care practice among type 2 diabetes patients at Xay Dung Hospital during the COVID – 19 pandemic has some limitations. Therefore, It is necessary to combine many measures such as health education, strengthening supervision and patient clubs to support knowledge and practice of self-care for people with type 2 diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes. especially in the time of Covid19.
