Abstract
Objective: To describe the changes in anxiety levels of parturients before and after cesarean section through nursing counseling and health education activities at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Vinmec Times City International Hospital, in 2025.
Methods: A comparative cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 248 parturients. Data were collected at two time points: when the parturient completed the cesarean section admission procedure and when she was discharged. The study utilized the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-T) tool consisting of 20 questions to assess anxiety levels, with a maximum score of 80 points. A score of ≥45 indicated the presence of anxiety. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. Descriptive statistics were used to determine frequency and percentage, while the paired T-test and McNemar test were applied to compare differences between the two time points, with a significance level of 5%.
Results: The proportion of anxious parturients decreased from 10.1% before the cesarean section to 2.0% after the procedure. There was a statistically significant difference in anxiety levels before and after the nursing counseling and health education intervention.
Conclusion: Nursing counseling and health education activities effectively reduced anxiety levels among parturients.
