Abstract
Objective: To assess the level of knowledge about glaucoma and its related factors among patients visiting the eye clinic at Military Hospital 103 in 2024.
Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 215 subjects at Military Hospital 103. A structured questionnaire consisting of 17 questions (7 general information questions and 10 knowledge-related questions) was used. The maximum total score was 20. Data were analyzed using STATA 18.0 software with descriptive statistics and correlation analysis.
Results: The average knowledge score was 6.67 ± 1.74. The majority of participants had average knowledge. The study results showed that gender, area of residence, and occupation were associated with knowledge levels. However, no significant correlation was found between education level, family history, personal medical history, and occupation in relation to knowledge about glaucoma.
Conclusion: Improving knowledge about glaucoma should be integrated into public health communication, especially targeting groups with lower education levels and those living in rural areas.
