Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of health education of knowledge changes to prevent the ulcer recurrence among patients after gastric and duodenal perforation surgery.
Method: Before and after study design was applied. Health counseling was implemented on 50 selected patients. The evaluation was conducted before, just after counselling.
Results: The mean score of knowledge in the evaluation just after counselling (20.16 ± 2.80) was significantly higher than the mean score before counselling(7.02 ± 6.12).
Conclusion: Prior to health counselling, the knowledge to prevent the ulcer recurrence among patients after gastric and duodenal perforation surgery was very limited, after education there is a significant change.
