Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to describe self-directed learning skills and identify some associated factors among healthcare students at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from November 2024 to December 2024, involving 675 students. This study utilized a self-administered questionnaire comprising sections on general information and self-directed learning skills. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman correlation, with a significance threshold set at < 0.05.
Results: The average score for self-directed learning skills among students was 91.47 ± 14.68 out of 115, indicating a high level of skill. Variations in self-directed learning skills were observed across different majors and academic years. Notably, self-directed learning skills demonstrated a positive correlation with daily self-study time and a negative correlation with student age (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Healthcare students exhibited high levels of self-directed learning skills. Training programs need to enhance students’ learning management skills through innovative teaching methods and student support programs.
