Abstract
Objective: To describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the prevention of exposure to blood and body fluids among nurses at Vinmec Times City International Hospital and related factors.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 205 nurses working in clinical departments at Vinmec Times City International Hospital from January to August 2025. The assessment tool for knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to exposure prevention was validated with an I-CVI of all items of 0.99, an S-CVI/UA of 0.97, and a Kappa coefficient of 0.731.
Results: The proportions of nurses with adequate knowledge, positive attitudes, and good practices toward the prevention of exposure to blood and body fluids were 82.4%, 91.7%, and 86.3%, respectively. Nurses with longer years of experience, a university degree or higher, and those demonstrating good knowledge and positive attitudes were more likely to have better preventive practices.
Conclusion: Nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding exposure prevention are influenced by age, years of experience, and educational level. Nursing managers and educators should pay attention to this issue and develop targeted interventions to enhance nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices in preventing occupational exposure to blood and body fluids.
