Abstract
Objective: To describe factors related to the full vaccination rate on under1-year-old children in 3 communes of Ha Nam province in 2016.
Method: Across-sectional study about vaccination records was conducted on 240 children aged 12 to 23 months old, and mothers in 3 communes of Ha Nam province in 2016 to determine the percentage of full immunization, on-schedule of 8 vaccines for children under1 year and some factors related to the vaccination status among children on schedule.
Results: This study shows that91,2% of children were fully immunized, and 53% of children were fully immunized, on-schedule. The main reason that why children were not immunized on-schedule was sickness, accounted for 48,2%, and mothers did not remember the immunization schedule (33.9%). Some association factors with full immunization of children were found, including the knowledge of mothers about immunization (OR=2,07; CI: 1,16-3,67), prenatal visit regularly(OR=3,14; CI: 1,25-7,9)
Conclusion: There is a need to educate the importance of children’s immunization to mothers from the pregnancy and in their prenatal visits to help mothers acknowledge early, fully and have good practices in vaccination for their children later.
