Abstract
Objective: To determine the attitudes and practices of nurses regarding evidence-based practice. Analyze the correlation between nurses’ attitudes and evidence-based practice.
Subjects and research methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 194 nurses working at the Oncology Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City from 01/2022 to 05/2022. Data were collected using Upton’s questionnaire with permission. This study used stratified random sampling method. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s r were used for data analysis.
Results: 83% of the nurses participating in the study were female. The average age of nurses was 34.46 ± 6.6. The average years of experience in the job were 11.77 ± 6.47. The highest average score was for practice 4.90 ± 0.99, followed by attitude 4.80 ± 0.95, indicating that nurses have a positive attitude towards evidence-based practice. There was a correlation between attitude and evidence-based practice r = 0.43, p < 0.05.
Conclusion: This study shows that nurses have a positive attitude and practice towards evidence-based practice. It also indicates a correlation between attitude and evidence-based practice. Therefore, solutions are needed to provide or create conditions for nurses to recognize the importance of evidence-based practice, such as organizing evidence-based practice courses for nurses, encouraging nurses to seek authentic evidence to apply in patient care.
