Abstract
Objective: To describe the compliance with the “7 Rights” of medication administration of nurses in the General Internal Medicine Department at Vinmec Times City International Hospital in 2024.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 233 instances of medication administration for inpatients in the General Internal Medicine Department at Vinmec Times City International Hospital in 2024. The observation checklist was built based on the “7 Correct Implementation Guidelines” with a total of 22 assessment criteria.
Results: For oral medication administration, high compliance was observed in the criteria of “Right Purpose,” “Right Dose,” “Right Route,” and “Right Drug.” Lower and less consistent compliance was found in “Right Patient” and “Right Documentation.” For injectable medication administration, “Right Drug” and “Right Route” achieved relatively high compliance, while “Right Dose” showed high average scores but with variability among nurses. Lower compliance was recorded for “Right Time” and “Right Purpose,” and “Right Documentation” showed wide variation, reflecting inconsistency in record-keeping.
Conclusion: Nurses in the General Internal Medicine Department at Vinmec Times City International Hospital in 2024 demonstrated relatively high compliance with the “7 Rights” of medication administration; however, adherence was inconsistent across specific criteria.
