Abstract
Objective: To identify factors associated with the outcomes of nursing care activities for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones at Ninh Binh General Hospital in 2024.
Methods: A prospective descriptive study was conducted among 123 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones at the Department of General Surgery, Ninh Binh General Hospital, from February to August 2024. The data collection instrument was developed based on the 12 professional nursing care tasks stipulated in Circular No. 31/2021/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health and demonstrated acceptable reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.75).
Results: The proportion of patients achieving good nursing care activity outcomes was high (82.9%).The study identified crude associations between seven factors and postoperative nursing care outcomes, including: age <60 years (OR = 3.29; 95%CI: 1.18–9.18), non-manual occupation (OR = 4.57; 95%CI: 1.55–13.44), educational level above high school (OR = 7.17; 95% CI: 2.59–19.79), being married (OR = 3.57; 95%CI: 1.35–9.43), normal body mass index (OR = 4.75; 95%CI: 1.77–12.74), hospital stay of less than 7 days (OR = 5.91; 95%CI: 2.15–16.20), and being very satisfied with nursing care activities (OR = 4.03; 95%CI: 1.11–14.57).
Conclusion: Most patients achieved good overall nursing care activity outcomes. To further improve nursing care activity outcomes, nurses should pay particular attention to older patients, those with an educational level below high school, those with abnormal nutritional status, and those who are not satisfied with the nursing care provided..
