Abstract
Objective: To describing the status of using pesticides among flower and bonsai growers in Nam Phong district, Nam Dinh city in 2019.
Method: A cross-sectional study under taken among 226 flower and bonsai growers in Nam Phong district, Nam Dinh city, Vietnam, in 2019.
Results: The participants chose and mixed the pesticides followed their own experiences were 62% and 71.7%, respectively. The growers poured pesticides leftover into water areas nearby, disposed of pesticides containers at their gardens and cleaned their sprayers in the water sources next to their gardens were 5.8%; 24.8% and 50.4%, respectively. 2.2% of respondents reported that they always ate and 4.4% said that they always smoked when working with pesticides. Meanwhile, 19.9% of them sometimes ate and 9.3% sometimes smoked when working with pesticides.
Conclusion: from the findings, we concluded that pesticides were not used safely since flower and bonsai growers performed inappropriate practices during process of choosing, mixing, and spraying pesticides.
