Abstract
Adherence treatment is an extremely important factor in improving health status and enhancing quality of life, especially in the management of chronic diseases, post-traumatic and post-surgical recovery.
Objective: Analyze the concept of adherence treatment.
Method: The analysis was conducted according to the Walker and Avant method. the document search process was conducted through four databases: PubMed, Google Scholar, CINAHL Database, Cochrane (from 2000 to 2025).
Results: From the literature, the synthesis of “adherence treatment” is the ability to follow the recommendations and recommendations of health workers, which is based on self-care practices and the willingness to cooperate of the patient. There are four attributes of the concept include: (1) self-care behavior, (2) following health recommendations, (3) willingness to cooperate and (4) communicating with medical staff. The premises are: characteristics of the regimen, communication of advice and the patient’s attitude towards advice.
Conclusion: The new definition of adherence treatment proposed in this concept analysis provides clarity and direction for future research on improving nursing practice. Furthermore, this study helps to raise nurses’ awareness of the need to communicate effectively with patients to increase treatment effectiveness, reduce the rate of early complications and improve the quality of life for patients.
