Abstract
Objective: To describe the current needs of palliative care of cancer inpatient at the Cancer Center - Thai Binh General Hospital in 2019.
Method: A cross sectional descriptive design was conduted among 380 cancer patients being treated at the Cancer Center - Thai Binh General Hospital from 01/2019 to 5/2019.
Results: Research shows that cancer patients with high demand for palliative care account for a high proportion (76.3%). Occupying a high proportion of needs: support needs in personal hygiene care (78,2%); the need for information and need for nursing provides regular information on health status (91,8%). 82,4% of those who need nursing help make difficult decisions. 87,9% of subjects have a need for care to relieve their sadness about the change in appearance due to side effects of drugs. Group of material needs: The highest percentage is needed for economic assistance (83,4%).
Conclusion: Patients with cancer have a high demand for different care needs groups. The largest is the need for diagnosis (91.8%) and the smallest is the need for skilled nursing care (78.2%). Need to understand the needs of patients to have appropriate cancer relief.
