Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the change in knowledge of pregnant women about neonatal jaundice at Phu Yen Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital after health education intervention.

Method: Design of an uncontrolled intervention study for pre-post evaluation. Subjects were 70 pregnant women who were pregnant at 33-35 weeks. Using direct communication with the support of the media. Evaluate the subject’s knowledge at 3 points before, right after and 1 month after the intervention.

Results: The proportion of pregnant women with correct knowledge of concepts, recognizing signs, causes, consequences, and treatment methods increased significantly immediately after the intervention and decreased significantly after 1 month after the intervention. Generally, the correct knowledge of subjects right after intervention and after 1 month is about 13 times higher than before intervention.

Conclusion: Health education has an important role to play in improving knowledge of pregnant women. It is necessary to continue to study new forms of communication suitable for pregnant women about neonatal jaundice
