Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the change of knowledge about chest percussion and vibration of mother with acute respiratory infections in children treated at the Respiratory Department of Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital after health education interventions.
Research subjects and methods: Mother with acute respiratory infections children who are not in emergency condition for treatment at the Respiratory Department of Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital. Methods intervention in a group of subjects with before-after comparison.
Results: The average score of the research subjects’ knowledge is 13.97 ± 3.24. Classification of knowledge level of research subjects: 23.3% of knowledge passed, 76.7% of knowledge did not pass (cutoff point was 50%). Knowledge of the contents changes in tủn as follows: the definition of chest: 70% (T1), 100% (T2, T3); indications for bronchitis: 26.7% (T1), 63.3% (T2, T3); indications for bronchiectasis: 33.3% (T1), 66.7% (T2), 70% (T3); contraindications for cardiovascular disease: 40% (T1), 63.3 (T2, T3); prepare the person to perform the technique: 43.3% (T1), 83.3% (T2), 86.7% (T3); The position of children to sit for chest percussion and vibration: 30% (T1), 63.3% (T2), 70% (T3). The change was statistically significant with p < 0.05.
Conclusion: The knowledge of mothers about chest percussion and vibration before intervention is still low (the rate of having knowledge is 23.3%). There was a clear change after health education, the percentage of mothers with correct knowledge increased to 76,7% immediately after the intervention (T2) and to 80% after the intervention 1 week (T3).
