Abstract
Objectives: Describe the status on occupational stress and related factors of nurses at Hanoi Post Hospital in 2023.
Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study design was conducted from 3-8/2023. The research subjects were 322 nurses directly performing patient care activities. The stress assessment tool is a shortened version of The Nursing Stress Scale and used logistic regression to analyze the association with stress.
Results: The proportion of nurses with low stress level accounted for 51,9%, average stress level accounted for 47,5%, high stress level accounted for 0,6%; The rate of nurses with stress is 48,1%. Of which, daily work pressure is rated as stressful with the highest average value of 2,28, followed by working with aggressive/violent patients, insults/insults, and exposure to dangers. Risking one’s own health and safety has an average score of 2. Gender and number of on-call sessions/month have a statistically significant relationship with nurses’ occupational stress (p < 0,05).
Conclusion: Stress is quite common in nurses taking care of patients. Especially for women and nurses who have to be on duty > 6 sessions/month. It is necessary to build a safe and comfortable working environment for nurses. Provide training support for nurses to cope with occupational stress.
