Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to identify some factors related to quality of life of patients after surgery of gallbladder due to gallstone at Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2017.
Method: The study was designed by a cross-sectional descriptive method using the Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index. The participants (104 patients) were surgeried gallbladder due to gallstones at Nam Dinh hospital form January 2017 to May 2017 and they were interviewed by questionaire.
Results: The mean GIQLI scores of the patients after surgery were significantly improved before surgery (70.98 ± 7.38 versus 63.98 ± 10.00, p < 0.001). The older, the less was the quality of life ( p < 0.5). The patients who are cadres, officials had higher quality of life than others (p < 0.5). Patients with higher education levels had higher quality of life than others (p < 0.5); Patients with obesity had a lower quality of life than others (p < 0.05); Patients with endoscopic surgery had a higher quality of life than patients with open surgery (p < 0.05). Patients who were surgeried following sheduled had higher quality of life than emergency surgery (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Age, occupation, educational level, body mass index (BMI), surgical method, surgical method related to quality of life of patients after surgery of gallbladder due to gallstones.
