Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to access change in treatment adherence of hypertensive patients receiving in outpatients treatment at Ngoc Lac area general hospital in Thanh Hoa province in 2023 after providing educational education.
Subjects and research methods: An experimental with pre-post study design was used to conduct 94 patients with hypertension receiving outpatient treatment services from April to June 2023.
Result: Before intervention, the rate of the treatment adherence of hypertension patients was low, accounting for 34%. In which, the percentage of patients who adhered to reduce sodium intake was 22,3%, compliance with doctor appointments was 29,8%, adherence to medication was 40,4%. After intervention 1 month, the rate of the treatment adherence of hypertension patients increased to 72,3%. In which, the rate of patients who adhered to reduce sodium intake, compliance with doctor appointments, adherence to medication increase were 72,3%, 59,6%, 60,6%, this difference has statistical significance with p < 0,05.
Conclusion: The treatment adherence of hypertension patients was limited at the time before the study but improved significantly after the intervention. Research results showed the importance and necessity of regular health education for patients about the treatment adherence of hypertension patients.
