Abstract
Objectives: To describe the knowledge of high blood pressure diet of hypertensive patients managed by Out-patient clinic in Nam Dinh General Hospital.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from April to August 2018. Data collection among 250 hypertensive patients, selected by simple random sampling method. The subjects interviewed directly based on the questionnaire 19 pre-designed questions. Each correct answer was assigned for 1 point, wrong or unknown answer was assigned for 0 point.
Results: The proportion of respondents who had correct answers the dietary impact of the disease; in principle of diet; healthy food; unhealthy food: 60.8-74.4%; from 64.6 to 83.6%; from 51.4 to 87.5%; 52.8-81.5%. The mean score of knowledge was 11.9/19, the rate of patients who had proper knowledge of high blood pressure diet accounted 58%.
Conclusion: The awareness of high blood pressure diet among hypertensive patients of the study was limited.
Conclusion: Dietary awareness of hypertensive patients is limited.
