Abstract
Objective: To describe the current status of medication adherence and self-care behaviors among outpatients with hypertension at Hong Ha General Hospital, Ha Tinh, in 2025.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 384 patients receiving examination and treatment at Hong Ha General Hospital, Ha Tinh, from January to June 2025.
Results: The age group ≥ 60 years accounted for the highest proportion (82.6%). Most patients were diagnosed through routine health check-ups (64.3%) and had been diagnosed with hypertension for over one year (91.7%). Medication adherence: 65.1% high, 12.5% moderate, 22.4% low. Self-care behaviors: 52.9% good, 47.1% moderate, 0% poor.
Conclusion: The study found that only 12.5% of patients achieved an average level of treatment adherence. Meanwhile, 22.4% of patients demonstrated low levels of self-care behavior. To improve both adherence and self-care practices, it is essential to strengthen individualized counseling and implement supportive measures aimed at enhancing treatment adherence and self-care behaviors among patients with hypertension.
