Abstract

Objective: To analyze some factors related to the nursing care outcomes of children with seasonal influenza at Vinmec Times City International Hospital.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 216 pediatric patients under 16 years old who were diagnosed with seasonal influenza and hospitalized at Vinmec Times City International Hospital from January 2021 to February 2022. Clinical information was collected from medical records, and a structured questionnaire was used to evaluate nursing care for the children. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 with descriptive frequency tables and percentages, and the Chi-square test was applied to assess the association between selected factors and nursing care outcomes.

Results: The proportion of good nursing care outcomes was 81.5%. The mean treatment duration was 3.8 ± 1.7 days. There was a significant association between nursing care outcomes and the child’s age, fever status, and gastrointestinal disorders at hospital admission.

Conclusion: Good nursing care outcomes accounted for 81.5%, while suboptimal care outcomes accounted for 18.5%. In caring for children with seasonal influenza, special attention should be given to those under 5 years old, those with high or very high fever, and those presenting with diarrhea or vomiting/regurgitation.
