Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-component intervention on knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding breast cancer prevention and early detection among women.
Methods: A pre–post intervention study was conducted from December 2025 to March 2026 among 200 women aged ≥18 years in Lien Minh commune, Nam Dinh province (now part of Ninh Binh province), Vietnam. The intervention included face-to-face training, provision of educational materials, continuous engagement through digital platforms, and community communication via local loudspeakers. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with good reliability (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.77–0.88).
Results: Significant improvements in KAP were observed after the intervention (p < 0.001). The mean knowledge score increased from 11.55 ± 4.44 to 32.32 ± 2.77, with 75.5% of participants achieving a good level. The mean attitude score increased from 23.19 ± 8.46 to 36.26 ± 2.06 (d = 7.53). The mean practice score increased from 2.57 to 4.60, with breast self-examination showing the greatest improvement (from 0.69 to 4.50; d = 2.09). The proportion of proactive practice increased from 28.0% to 56.5%.
Conclusion: The multi-component intervention demonstrated significant effectiveness in improving KAP regarding breast cancer prevention and early detection among community women. Sustaining and scaling up this model is recommended to enhance women’s health outcomes.
