Abstract
Objective: To describe the situation of fever management knowledge of mothers with children under 5 years old in Nam Dinh Paediatric Hospital in 2020.
Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from December 2019 to June 2020 among 90 mothers with children under 5 years old who are treated at Nam Dinh Paediatric Hospital. Those were interviewed directly by pre-designed survey questionnaire about the contents of fever management knowledge in children.
Results: The percentage of mothers with correct knowledge of fever definition was 33.3%, mothers who identified a fever by touch was 82.2%, and mothers who have correct knowledge of when to use fever-reducing medicines was 30%.The mothers know the right dose of fever-reducing medicines for their children and put their child on a diet when they have a fever were 33.3% and 14.4%, respectively.
Conclusion: The situation of fever management knowledge among mothers with children under 5 years old treated at Nam Dinh Paeiatric Hospital is very low.
