Abstract
Objective: To describe the current burden of caring for people with schizophrenia inpatient treatment at Hung Yen Mental Hospital in 2020.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study using questionnaires Interview of Zarit (Zarit Burden Interview / ZBI) has been translated into Vietnamese and standardized by Nguyen Bich Ngoc for human surveys caring for 95 people with schizophrenia (60 women and 35 men).
Results: The average burden of care of primary caregiver for patients was ZBI = 54,03 ± 14,29 with the highest score of 82 and the lowest of 10. People with the burden of serious care accounted for the highest proportion, followed by very severe, moderate and mild. However, there was no significant difference in burden of care between men and women and the relationship with the ill.
Conclusion: The results of the study have provided some initial information on the burden of caring for people with schizophrenia, different levels of burden as well as the unique characteristics of life satisfaction of scholarly patients with schizophrenia who are inpatient treatment,thereby giving appropriate direction to improve the quality of nursing practice education.
