Abstract
Objective: Evaluating the change of maternal knowledge about neonatal jaundice at Nam Dinh province Obstetrical hospital after health educational intervention.
Method: Intervention with evaluated before and after study on 151 mothers at Nam Dinh province Obstetrical hospital from January to September 2015.
Results: Before the intervention, knowledge of mothers about neonatal jaundicewas low. After the intervention, maternal knowledge was improved significantly. The percentage of mothers with good knowledge increased from 4.6% to 48.3%, average knowledge reduced from 37.1% to 15.2%, weak knowledge reduced from 30.5 % to 6.6%. Knowledge that the most change was the response of the mother on how to solve infants with decrease of jaundice (41,1% - 78,8%). The difference was statistically significant with p <0.05.
Conclusions: Knowledge of mothers about neonatal jaundicewas low and there was a significant change in knowledge of mothers after intervention.
