Abstract
This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors associated with pospartum depression among mothers. Method: This study was conducted from July 2016 to April 2017 with 120 mothers with their under 6-month-old infant being treated at Namdinh Pediatric hospital. Constructed questionnaires was designed to collect data, while the Endinburgh Postnatal Depression scale (EPDS) was used to estimate the postpartum depression of participants. The rusults revealed that the average EPDS score was 10.45 ± 4.6, (ranging from 0 to 19). Besides, the rate of depression postpartum of mothers with babies under 6-month-old being treated at Nam Dinh Pediatric Hospital was 34.2%. Some association factors also found in the research were the baby’s health status, maternal health, getting anxiety during pregnancy, unplanned pregnancy, premature birth,mother’s health status.
