Abstract
Objective: To describe the Nurses’ knowledge and practice on prevention of falls risk for patients in Ha Nam General Hospital in 2019.
Method: 47 nurses of 4 departments were selected to answer the questionnaires which were designed, simultaneously observing the implementation of daily falls prevention activities for patients.
Results: The results showed that, among 47 nurses participating in the study, the rate of correct knowledge accounts for 38.3% while the level under number is 61.7%; the percentage of practice points accounts for 17.1% while the level under number is 82.9%;,80.9% regularly update their knowledge about prevention of falls and 85.1% of those are in need of training. The nurses work at surgical wards has the rate of correct knowledge (66,7%) higher than the nurses work at medical wards 8,7% (p<0,05). The female nurses who assessed the risk of falls for patients (74.3%) is higher than male nurses 33.3% (p <0.05).
Conclusion: A training program to improve knowledge and practice of falls prevention for Nurses is needed at Ha Nam general hospital.
