Abstract
Objective: To describe the current situation and examine factors related to the knowledge use of antibiotic for children in 2018.
Method: A cross-sectional study was performed in Children’s Hospital Nam Dinh with 410 parents. A questionnaire was developed and administered to assess the knowledge regarding antibiotic use for their childrens and using convenient sampling method.
Results: Researchers know that antibiotics have a side effect of68.5%, knowing that abuse of antibiotics increases the risk of antibiotic resistance by 76.3%. Besides, 69.8% of the study subjects could not distinguish antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, 71.7% said that antibiotics to treat viruses. Multivariate logistics model shows the relationship between knowledge and educational level factors, place of living, receiving information from health workers.
Conclusion: Knowledge about the use of antibiotics for children of caregivers in Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital is still low, need advice and instructions on how to use antibiotics for children.
