Abstract

Objective: To examine the outcomes of caring for children who contracted seasonal flu at Vinmec Times City General Hospital in 2021.

Method: Cross-sectional study on children under 16 years old diagnosed with the disease seasonal influenza inpatient treatment at the Department of Pediatrics, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital. Research data were collectedthrough medical records, the questionnaire to evaluate nurses’ child care work and instructions related to the practice of mothers taking care of children. Data analysis on Stata 12.0 software with tables describing frequency and rate of needs.

Results: Among the hospitalized children with seasonal flu, the gender ratio of men is higher than that of women (54.6% compared to 45.5%). The proportion of children with a history of contact with people with influenza at school was the highest at 53.7%, while no children had contact with people with influenza at the hospital. 95.8% of children were sick 1-2 days before admission to the hospital. 88.4% of the hospitalized children gradually improved, reduced symptoms, gradually became better at playing.

Conclusion: Good care results accounted for 81.5% and the rate of poor care was 18.5%. When caring for children with seasonal flu, we need to pay attention to children under five years old with high/very high fever; Pediatric patients have diarrhea, vomiting, and regurgitation.
