Abstract

Objective: To describe the current situation and identify some factors related to metabolic syndrome of staffs from Nam Dinh University of Nursing in 2017.

Method: The descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 181 staffs from Nam Dinh University of Nursing and staffs were the periodic medical test in 2017.

Results: The rate of un-overweight in staffs was 71%, overweight was 18%, obesity level 1was 11%. The rate of diabetics in staffs was 5.5%. The rate of dyslipidemia was 27.62% with staffs increased 1 lipid index, was 19.89% with staffs increased 2 lipid indexs, was 4.42% with staffs increased 3 lipid indexs, and was 0.52% with staffs increased 4 lipid indexs. The number of staffs with hypertention level 1 was 7.70%, 1.10% in level 2, and 0.6% in level 3.

Conclusion: The rate of metabolic syndrome of staffs from Nam Dinh University of Nursing was 14.36%; some factors: smoking habits and doing exercise related to metabolic syndrome, the difference had statistical signification with p <0.05.
