Abstract
Objective: Describe the disease pattern of inpatients in internal medicine departments and analyze disease trends at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from 2023 to 2024.
Method: A retrospective descriptive study of secondary data was conducted on 12,951 medical records of patients admitted to internal medicine departments at Hanoi Medical University Hospital during 2023–2024.
Results: The most prevalent diseases were digestive system disorders (Chapter XI) at 15.9%, followed by circulatory system disorders (Chapter IX) at 15.6%, and respiratory system disorders (Chapter X) at 12.3%. Patients aged ≥ 60 accounted for 45.9%, with males comprising 53.6%. Inpatient treatment trends increased for endocrine, respiratory, and circulatory diseases from 2023 to 2024. Disease distribution was significantly associated with gender and age group (χ² = 349.91; p < 0.001).
Conclusion: The study provides a scientific foundation for developing prevention, treatment, health education, and hospital management improvement strategies, particularly for chronic diseases, while offering critical evidence for hospital management and chronic disease control.
