Abstract

Objective: Description of some early complications in patients after percutaneous nephrolithotomy with small tunnel and some related factors at 108 Military Central Hospital.

Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 210 cases of kidney stones treated with percutaneous nephrolithotomy at 108 Military Central Hospital from January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022. Postoperative patient follow-up after 24 hours, applying the improved Clavien Dindo scale to classify complications.

Results: The rate of postoperative complications was mild according to Clavien-Dindo grading with grade I being 4.29% and grade II being 0.48%, respectively; no severe complications of grades III, IV, V were encountered. Surgery time and number of tunnels were correlated with complications (p < 0.05).

Conclusions: Early complications of patients after percutaneous nephrolithotomy with small tunnel according to the Clavien Dindo scale are mainly grade I and grade II complications. Nurses need to have a care plan and monitor patients with surgery time of more than 60 minutes and more than 2 surgical tunnels to reduce complications.
