Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical and subclinical characteristics about bacterial diarrhea of children under 5 years old at the internal Medicine Department in Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital.
Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted from April 2019 to October 2019 on 77 mothers and children from 2 months to 5 years old admitted to hospital with a diagnosis of bacterial diarrhea at the Internal Medicine Department in Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital. Using methods of exploiting medical records, physical examination, using test results and face-to-face interviews to collect necessary information.
Results: Signs of onset disease were 50.6%, clinical manifestations: mucus accounts for 54.9%, fever accounts for 66.2%. The amount of leukocytes increased: 36.4%, positive CRP accounted for 50.6%, calcium decreased: 94.9% and leukocytes in excrement were dense: 28.6%.
Conclusions: The most common signs of onset infectious diarrhea were diarrhea and fever. Most children with infected diarrhea had blood and mucus in excrement. Average hemoglobin: 99.2 ± 10.8 g / l, 50.6% positive CRP. Excrement test: White blood cells in excrement were dense: 28.6%, white blood cells (+++): 36.4%, white blood cells (++): 33.7%.
