Abstract
Objective: To describe the physical activity status of out-patients with Type 2 Diabetes at Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2020.
Method: A cross-sectional description of 246 type 2 diabetic patients managed by Nam Dinh General Hospital.
Results: The percentage of patients participated in the study of sufficient physical activity was 50.8%. In which, daily activities were mainly physical activity, walking or cycling for at least 10 minutes, each accounting for 93.1%, intense physical exercise and entertainment accounts for 11%, and intense work activities. 23.2% strength. The average time of day spent on walking or cycling at least 10 minutes was done 25.77 minutes; Time of intense work activity was 12.91 minutes, moderate intensity work activity was 16.14 minutes; the time for intense physical training and entertainment activities was 4.25 minutes, and the medium intensity was 15.04 minutes. The average time of sedentary activity during the day was 3.7 ± 1.65 hours. The average time per day the patient spent on working was 26.51 minutes; for leisure 25.34 minutes and for leisure activities 16.92 minutes.
Conclusion: The percentage of patients participating in the study with enough activity equivalent to ≥ 600 METs-minutes / week was 50.8%. Thereby, it showed that the compliance with physical activity was not high. Therefore, in the process of nursing care, there should be appropriate care interventions to further enhance physical activity in the patient
