Abstract
Objective: To describe the mother’s knowledge about the prevention and care of acute diarrhea for children under 12 months old in 3 suburban communities, Lang Son city 2020.
Method: Cross-sectional study was implemented among 270 mothers with children under 12 months old meeting sampling criteria and pre-prepared questionnaires.
Results: The proportion of mothers with good knowledge was 13.3%; fair knowledge was 18.1%. On the other hand, the proportion of mothers without wash their hands often before eating was 20.4%. The proportion of mothers with knowledge of the cause of diarrhea due to inadequate vaccination and prolonged illness was 27.0% and 28.9% respectively.
Conclusion: The mother’s knowledge about prevention and care of acute diarrhea for children under 12 months old in 3 suburban communities, Lang Son city 2020 - is not good. Therefore, it is necessary to communicate and educate mothers on health to improve their knowledge of diarrhea prevention and care for children under 12 months of age
