Abstract
Objectives: Describe the current situation about stroke prevention knowledge among outpatients with type II diabetes treated at Nam Dinh City Medical Center in 2022.
Subjects and research methods: Cross - sectional descriptive research. Data collection by direct interviews with 327 patients with type II diabetes who came for outpatient examination and treatment at Nam Dinh City Medical Center from March to May 2022, through a set of assessment questionnaires stroke prevention knowledge.
Results: General knowledge about stroke prevention: 59.0% of patients have knowledge at the level of achieving; 41.0% of patients have not yet achieved. The average knowledge score is 19.71 ± 4,554; The lowest point is 4 and the highest is 33 out of 38 points. In which, the rate of patients with knowledge about stroke at the level of achieving is 53.8%; on risk factors for cerebrovascular disease is 51.1% and knowledge about stroke prevention practice is 62.4%.
Conclusions: The percentage of outpatients with type II diabetes who have general knowledge about stroke prevention at level of achieving is not high (59.0%).
